Participation 2019 Word
It’s been a delayed start to the 2019 New Year. 18 days into the year, lots of thinking and actively PARTICIPATING, I figured out MY word- Participation. I want to participate more in my kids life, my friends life and heck participate in me! I want to be there with my kids more, not just on the sidelines and in the house at the same time.
Why participation? I feel it’s very easy to let the kids do. Do video games, play, watch TV and be outdoors. But are you doing it with them, can you do different things with them? I am home all the time with my kids, but they will be downstairs I am upstairs. I can have them put away their laundry or I can help them and participate in the activity. I can toss the ball a little more, read a little more with them, and even watch their cartoons (even if those shows drive me crazy).
I am committing myself to participate with my kids more. Stop the work until the kids are not home or in bed. Or if I have to do it, do it while they do homework, so we are all doing work together. This winter I have participated in snowboarding with them. Even taking them out of school, to go ride for the day together. We joke, race each other and have fun. We tried a new mountain Bellearye this week, I refused to let any electronics for the car ride. Char read to Jack an entire LuLu book on the way there. They were cracking up to the story, song parts and words, yet they had thought they would be bored without the electronics. Way home- SINGALONGS!
I challenge you to find your word. If you can’t or want to use mine do it. Participate this year. It may require you to get outside your comfort zone but do it. Canon ball into that pool, ride a bike with them, ski, snowboard, bowl- do what they want with them!
