My Need for Speed at the Porsche Experience Center
Disclaimer: This is a paid opportunity with Porsche and A Girls Guide to Cars. They hosted our media drive and lunch. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
Traveling to Atlanta, Georgia and visiting the Porsche Experience Center was a dream come true. The building is located just outside the airport and seeing cars speeding on the track while planes flew above was surreal. I mean they used it for the Avengers Headquarters in Captain America: Civil War, a structural beauty! After checking in at the gate, we parked and the wow factors continued. Inside the Porsche Experience Center is a museum, restaurant and store, beyond the windows is the track and courses. Are you ready for this luxurious experience?
Starting at Restaurant 356 (named after the first model), you can enjoy lunch and dinner with reservations. All while overlooking the track and those out there driving. There is also a food area on main floor of the Heritage Gallery that you are walking through. Rotating vehicles every six months between their race cars, customer personal collections ad show cars. Something for everyone down stairs and history of those vehicles shown, make sure to stop and get a tour. Are you building a custom Porsche? Walk through the process of picking out colors, trim packages and more, then choose delivery.
The Women Came, Saw and Conquered
The A Girls Guide to Cars women took over The Porsche Experience Center on November 6th. It is not a race track, it is a track to develop skills. Real world skills that we can take home and use in our own cars on our own streets. Learning these skills while driving different Porsche vehicles and seeing how they handled didn’t hurt either. A mile long handling circuit, dynamic area with slaloms, launch control (I did 79mph in 550 and stopped), the kick plate- much needed practice for the Northeast winters and the wet low friction circle.
We also went in a guided drive off the OFF ROAD track in a CAYENNE. To know what their SUV is capable of in all conditions provides a piece of mind. Having only 2 wheels touching the ground or driving through 19 inches of water, easy peasy! The car walks you through with their multiple camera views and drive modes throughout the experience. While we drove with an instructor, you are able to book this experience yourself. Watching the Cayenne in front of us go through the track had quite the sound track inside ours.
The Porsche Simulator Lab created fun competition between us women on the trip. Shifting, crashing, it all feels real while racing for 30 minutes as many times around the track as you can. I ended up 1st in my group and 2nd for the whole day! Pretty proud of that. While they programed the cars and track choices, when you book your experience there is a range of choices to decide from.
Experience the need for speed yourself
Making a trip down to Atlanta? Porsche fan? Car fan? I highly recommend the Atlanta Experience Center which can personalize your own experience. The packages range from $365-$975 for 90 minutes but reaching out when booking to ensure you experience what you have in mind is recommended. If you are buying a Porsche and would like to take delivery at the Porsche Experience Center you can do that too! A private unveiling, room, and track experience with a car just like the one you bought before driving yours off the lot.
I had an incredible place all around, the group of inspiring women with me, the entire crew of drivers and the experience itself. I cannot thanks A Girls Guide to Cars and Porsche enough.
