Mom Sanity Check In During Social Distancing

Share

While we are all stuck home and turned into teachers for our kids, I wanted to reach out.  I know I am looking up additional ways to keep them engaged and busy without turning into hours on their phones and Xbox, which honestly has happened more days than I would like to admit.  I have been looking up how to keep them busy, still learn and stay out of my hair while I work, clean and try to stay sane.  Still looking for the answer here, any ideas?

Sure there are schedules, but staying on one while running the house and having multiple kids at different ages/stages is not easy for us.  As I am sure same for you.  There have been so many lists out there, many have the same websites their teachers are assigning, so I have been looking for other activities and things to do with them.  Puzzles have been fun, but lately super hard to get in stores and online. We have done two and hoping the ones I ordered show up sooner or later.  We have always done ones that then can be wall art by framing afterwards.  Who else has been doing puzzles?  These have just been 4 days in what almost 40 now?

From an event this fall. For laughs.

At the end of all this, I want to just say, we are all doing okay. Us moms, us parents are doing “Good Enough”, let’s try not to stress and just be.  This is not something we could have been trained for, this is not going to last forever.  Sure things will change, there will be a new norm.  Some of our children will never remember this time, others will share with their children the way I tell them stories of twiddling my thumbs while waiting in line instead of being on their phones.   We will tell our grandkids our experiences, and history books will include this pandemic.

We will get through and adjust to our new norm. Why? Because we are in this together.
