Review Monster Jam at MetLife Stadium

Share

It was raining and at times I could see my breathe from the cold. If you know me, you know I HATE being cold and wet but I will also do anything for my kids and my older daughter has wanted to see Monster Jam  since she was 4. So we sat outside in the rain and cold and had a FABULOUS time at MetLife Stadium. Thanks to FELD and Social Toaster for the tickets.

We had passes to the pit party which may have been enough on it’s on own to entire my girls. They LOVED seeing the trucks and drivers up close. My girls are new to whole experience so there were not any drivers they were particularly interested in seeing so we moved around pretty quickly. They loved the RIDE section though and had a blast trying out strider bikes, sitting on demo ATVs and motocross bikes.  There was also a section for ATV riding however the line was a little long and I would suggest bringing your own helmet if your kid is really into it.  (I am just not a big shared head wear type of Mom).  There was also a build your own Monster truck area some BMX bike stunt demos, and plenty of Monster Jam themed items for purchase.  The big draw was the actual Monster truck rides, again a pretty long line so if you are into that show up early and head there first.

Once we saw everything at the Pit party my girls (the only ones there wearing bright pink mind you) couldn’t wait to get to our seats.  We had to wait a little bit though as the seating didn’t open until around 6 when the Pit Party ended, however the drivers left the party at 5.  We used this time to grab some dinner and buy some ponchos to sit out in the rain.  My husband and I were totally willing to stay exactly where we were for the entire show and watch it on the big screens however the kid dragged us out to the seats.  So we put on our ponchos and headed out to our seats.  Assuming that my “girly girls” would get tired of being in the rain we had escape routes planned.  We were dead wrong though!  Each of my kids wanted ear protection but neither of them would leave their seat once the trucks came out.  They were engrossed in the racing, cheering on their new found favorite trucks AKA Gravedigger (of course) and Whiplash (the only female driver).

The entire event was super family friendly and my kids loved it so much we are planning to head out to CT this summer to check it out again.  The one thing I have everyone asking about is the noise.  The loudest part of the event was the beginning since all of the trucks were running at one time, after that the most you are hearing is two trucks at a time.  My old daughter kept her ear protection on for the entire show, my little one took them off at intermission and never put them back on, though I would recommend going to an open air venue for the first time you attend!
