Historic Hudson Valley Sheep-to-Shawl

Share

A few things invoke the coming of Spring: the arrival of robins, crocuses and daffodils and the Historic Hudson Valley’s Sheep-to-Shawl.  This year marked our second year visiting the event and we had a fantastic time.

For starters, the weather was amazing.  I’m pretty sure we suffered enough these past months that Mother Nature decided to finally throw us a bone.  The Sheep-to-Shawl takes place at the Philipsburg Manor in Sleepy Hollow.  The grounds are stunning!

The Sheep-to-Shawl takes you step-by-step through the process of transforming wool into textiles during colonial America.  The stations are numbered accordingly and visitors are encouraged to participate.  One of our favorite stations is the shearing.

During your visit, you can observe a working mill, sheep herding and live music complete with a colonial fashion show.

The highlight of our visit was the 6 day old lambs.  How cute is this face?!?

The Historic Hudson Valley Sheep-to-Shawl takes place every spring at Philipsburg Manor.
