Feeling Nostalgic at Playland

Share

Disclosure: We received tickets for opening day.  We chose to do a write up for our families.  All opinions expressed are our own from our own experience.  No other compensation was exchanged.

For Mother’s Day weekend I took my kids to Playland’s Opening Day.  I had not been there since high school when I snuck out with friends to see one of their free concerts back in the day, 18 years ago?  I was feeling nostalgic at Playland for sure, before that I was a child.  My kids and I love checking out amusement parks and everything they have to offer from the crazy coasters to the kiddie rides, and we just did that with our friend in tow too.

Playland is perfect for the little ones, with the amount of rides for different ages I would suggest 13 and under would be most happy spending the day there.   Our favorite rides were the Dragon Coaster, Super Flight and Log Flume were we were soaked.  When we were in the kiddie section, one thing as a mom I look for is most is safety but also timing.  We actually left 2 rides for the time it took to load the kids, let even more on after checking ride was good to go and watching younger kids get anxious and start crying and getting upset.  Example was the kiddie coaster ran 8 times while the carousel didn’t even load and run one time in those 8 coaster trips.   The only other issue we had was with one ride, no one had been on it, we went on, each taking a seat and just as operator was about to run 2 kids got into line.  Instead of running the ride and letting those kids wait, the ride took 60 seconds, he stopped to let them on and combine kids with mine.  I was a bit annoyed with why my kids could not just ride the ride and then these kids who were still the only 2 in line didn’t go after.  This ride did not have a high demand, I wanted pictures and the kids wanted their own characters which would have happened if he had just started the ride. I do understand these are younger teens running the rides, and hopefully these kinks work out soon in the kiddie area.

The other rides we rode without incident and are looking forward to visit again this summer.  I also won’t let that spoil the great time we did have together, I mean just look at those smiles.  My kids 2nd & 3rd grade were perfect for the rides, the fun and size of Playland Park.

Eating

There are many food options around the park and snacks.  Benches, tables and chairs around the stage offer plenty of seating to enjoy your fare.   We enjoyed pizza, cotton candy and ice cream while at Playland.

Things to Do

There is also mini-golf right as you walk into the park, a boardwalk and beach to visit while there too.  We played a quick round of mini-golf and was thrilled with how cheap it was, under $20 for 4 people.
