Welcome to August Apple Moms! We are in the home stretch of summer! I went and bought my daughter her first book bag today I can’t believe Kindergarten starts in less then and month! In the meantime here are some family activities to enjoy!

Wednesday August 5th

Hero Talk – Meet and speak with a Police Officer from 3 to 3:45.

Schlathaus Park, Wappingers Falls

TRACY DE LUCIA BAND is high energy Country Rock. Tracy DeLucia is a Nashville recording artist and has performed on Broadway in Nashville. The band is no stranger to giving it’s audience an experience that will keep your guests talking, covering Miranda Lambert to Toby Keith to Carrie Underwood to the Rolling Stones.

Putnam County Food & Wine Festival

A summer highlight featuring wine tastings from local wineries, beer garden, local food vendors, arts and crafts, live entertainment for all ages, cooking demonstrations, and more! Running 11am-6pm on Saturday and 11am-5pm on Sunday, guests can enjoy musical performances from pop to country to R&B to Reggae and other genres. Click HERE for ticket info.

Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome, Rhinebeck

The Rhinebeck Aerodrome Museum’s 1917 Fokker Dr.I Triplane and 1918 Fokker D.VII is featured in a special tribute to the best-known German fighter aircraft of their time. See the Fokkers arked in the courtyard so you can get up close and personal with the aircraft, Aerodrome staff and guest speakers will be available to answer questions about these legendary machines.  The Museum and grounds open at 10am with air shows on both days at 2pm.

Admission: $20, Srs. 65+ & teens 13-17/$15, Jrs ages 6-12/$5, under 6/free. Special rate for military personnel/$15. Biplane rides are available for $75 per person on a first-come-first-served basis. Air shows and rides are weather permitting.

Build & Grow – Hulk’s Tank – “Marvel Avengers Assemble” Summer continues this week with Hulk’s Tank!

Vassar College, Poughkeepsie

Summer Nature Festival – Celebrating the beauty and diversity of the Vassar Farm and Ecological Preserve. Come on one of our many nature walks, play around with crafts, get your face painted, and go on a scavenger hunt! Enjoy food by local vendors, browse our tabling booths, and listen to some great live music.  Park in the main parking lot by the Poughkeepsie Farm Project.

Sunday August 9th

Riverfront Park, Beacon

Beacon Sloop Club Corn Festival –  Enjoy food, fun and music down by the lovely Hudson Riverside. Environmental booths and vendors bring awareness to many environmental and social issues.

Tuesday August 11th

Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum, Poughkeepsie

ABC, 123: LOOKING FOR LOST LETTERS  The letter of the month is “L”! We’re heading outside to the pavilion because all of the letters got lost!  It’s up to us to find them! We’ll have tons of sensory fun fishing letters from water, unburying them in the sand and even finding them in shaving cream. Once we find the letters will use them to trace and stamp some lovely art!  This program is free with museum admission @10:30 & 2:30
