On Wednesdays We Wear Pink

Share

On a Wednesday night we wore pink and headed  for a girls night out to see Mean Girls on Broadway and it was seriously “Fetch”!

This post is made possible by support from Mean Girls on Broadway. All opinions are my own.

Broadway Buffs: Mean Girls features the book by nine-time Emmy Award winner Tina Fey, based on her screenplay for the film, music by three-time Emmy Award winner Jeff Richmond, and lyrics by two-time Tony Award nominee Nell Benjamin. Tony Award-winner Casey Nicholaw directs and choreographs.

The show stayed pretty true to the original film. Cady Heron moves from Africa to suburban Illinois and has to navigate becoming popular at her new school. Complete with teenage dating drama and a plot to take out the Queen Bee of the Plastics aka Regina George with some weight gaining bars with an added social media influence.

This cast can SING, I had Regina George, played by Renee Rapp’s intro song stuck in my head for days! Grey Henson’s character Damien Hubbard though was my favorite from his outstanding pipes, dance moves and how many times we laughed out loud, phenomenal!

As the Mom of tweens myself I know it’s tough being a middle or high school girl and the show is especially relatable to this crowd yet hilarious to all of us who’ve already gone through the torture of high school. I loved how social media and a feminism punch played a part. I personally would recommend 14+ depending on your child due to the use of sexual related dialog.

Over all we loved the show and the positive message sent was loud and clear, we are all “fetch” and “like really pretty” so don’t be a mean girl-  toss your high school burn book, text a frenemy and go see Mean Girls!
