Bring Music to The Green as Part of Summer Fest in Yonkers
YONKERS, N.Y. (June 11, 2018) – Summer groovin’ is about to start in Westchester County’s largest city! It’s Summer Fest at Cross County Shopping Center in Yonkers – and that means free concert fun for all is happening on The Green, in the center of the outdoor mall. Beginning this month, guests can bring their dancing shoes and enjoy live music by some of the hottest regional and national tribute bands.
“Families looking for fun, free summertime entertainment need to look no further than the 2018 Summer Fest series, which includes a roster of outdoor concerts with new bands; plus, there’s always year-round FREE parking too!” said Liz Pollack, Senior Manager of Marketing for Cross County Shopping Center. “Our outdoor concerts provide the ultimate entertainment experience before, during or after shopping at our stores and dining at our eateries.”

Thursday, June 21, 6:30-8:00p.m.: Marshall Charloff & The Purple Xperience
The Purple Xperience is a five-piece group hailing from Prince’s birthplace, Minneapolis, MN. They have been touring around the country since its inception in 2011 by Dr. Fink and front-man Marshall Charloff – bringing the greatest and most authentic production of Prince and The Revolution in the world to audiences of all generations. Since 2011 Purple Xperience has entertained thousands and has shared the bill with The Time, Cameo, Fetty Wap, Gin Blossoms, Atlanta Rhythm section, and Cheap Trick.
Thursday, June 28, 6:30-8:00 p.m.: Simply Diamond
Simply Diamond is a tribute to the music of Neil Diamond. They pay great attention to the detailed song arrangements that Neil Diamond and his collaborators created. Though Simply Diamond is true to Neil’s song arrangements, they often put their own stamp on many of his songs. The crowd will no doubt sing along and out loud to favorites like Sweet Caroline and Cracklin’ Rosie.
Tuesday, July 3, 7:00-10:00 p.m.: Spectacular Fireworks Show and Performance by FDR Drive
In celebration of Independence Day, FDR Drive band will perform a concert on the Summer Fest stage from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. followed by spectacular fireworks show from the north parking lot at 9:30p.m. (a portion of the lot will be closed for parking behind Shake Shack). Tuesday, July 3; Concert 7:00p.m. and Fireworks at 9:30p.m. FDR Drive is the ultimate music experience and will have you dancing all night long! They play a mix of music that includes, Current Dance Hits, Motown, R&B, 70s, 80’s, 90’s, Rock, Pop Hits and Swing.
Thursday, July 12,6:30-8:00 p.m.: Who Loves You
The Who Loves You band is a musical tribute to Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. The band is comprised of some of New York’s greatest Broadway and Off Broadway musicians and offers a completely unique sound. The singers are supported by original song arrangements that were live recorded by the Who Loves You band, giving each song an individual, powerful, and exciting musical edge. The band performs choreographed dance moves onstage as well, giving audiences a thrilling chance to truly hear and see a Four Season’s show.
Thursday, July 19, 6:30-8:00 p.m.: Rubix Kube ‘80s Tribute Band
For over a decade, Rubix Kube has taken the universe by storm as the most original ‘80s tribute band of all time. From their NYC headquarters (now also in LA), to U.S. troops overseas, in the most prestigious venues across the globe and galaxies far, far away “The Eighties Strike Back Show” is a one-of-a-kind, ever-evolving, interactive ‘80s extravaganza. The pro & versatile musicians of Rubix Kube personify favorite ‘80s stars, while often being joined by the legends themselves.

Summer Fest at Cross County Shopping Centers continues through August. Back by popular demand is “Foodie Fridays” on August 3, 10 and 17 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
During this series, visitors can join in on a not-to-be-missed food truck party at Cross County Shopping Center, which will take place on the first three Fridays of August. Enjoy some of the tastiest food truck cuisine favorites along with samples from Cross County Shopping Center eateries. While tasting yummy bites, shoppers will listen to the tunes of 95.5FM DJ Mike Allan. Plus, there’s more:
- On August 3rd, guests will enjoy a performance by the New Jersey Pizza Boys, These two young brothers will toss pizza, entertain the crowd and customers can even stop by dad Carmine’s pizza food kitchen for a slice before the night ends.
- On August 10th, a live performance by the Rakiem Walker Project Band, of Red Rooster Restaurant in Harlem, will rock the Summer Fest stage, bringing a little of NYC funk to Yonkers.
A portion of the food truck sale proceeds will benefit Feeding Westchester, the leading hunger-relief organization in Westchester County, which supports over 300 front-line hunger relief programs. Feeding Westchester provides 95 percent of all the food given to families, children and seniors who are experiencing hunger in the county.
