Back to School- At Home

Share

How kids are attending school and when they are starting this year is different in every district throughout the state and country.   Parental choosing of hybrid and remote was given to some also.  Every family had the hard decision of picking what works best for their children.   For many Back to School is at home for many even if just part time.  I chose hybrid for my kids, even that decision poses so many unknowns and so many questions.  Learning at home is a new norm for us since March.

Getting ready for the days of learning at home consists on planning, trial and error and thinking back to the spring and what worked, didn’t work and how to help my kids the most complete their work with the meltdowns from them and myself to a minimum.  After reading tons, shopping all over for tools, I have some great supplies for your family I wanted to share.

Desks/Table Space:

Desk Calendars:  I always require a good desk calendar.  I am able to write appointments and notes down quickly, and doodle.  I bought a new desk this summer for my office space, to protect the top while staying organized I went with this AT-A-GLANCE Happy Stripe Academic Monthly Desk Pad Calendar. Which can be found on Amazon.

Dry Erase Easel: I am always writing to-dos and quick notes.  This design allows you to take your To Do’s with you to any room in the home. Lay the 9”x 11”board flat to write and then prop it up. Comes with 1 dry erase marker. Available on Amazon.

Table Divider: While the kids have their desks in their bedrooms, I honestly cannot trust them to do their work solely in there. So I turned my dining room table into their school station while we begin and work out the kinks with hybrid learning (we are remote until end of September).  Using the Quartet’s Magnetic Glass Dry Erase Table Divider helps partition and divide spaces for my kids and social distance for use at school. The magnetic glass dry-erase panel was perfect for writing their schedules on each side for Jack and Charlotte. Available on Amazon.

Bin/Organizer: Use for notebook, workbooks and folders to they are all located in one place for the kids to grab.  Pencil cups for pens, pencils and markers if they need to color and do paperwork while at home.  I find having everything right there reduces to the run around mid class for supplies.  Even I have a mug with my colored pens as I do everything for the family color coded.

We are wishing all our families and kids good luck for this school year with whatever it may bring us all!  Just remember we’ve got this and one day it will just be a memory and story to tell.
