3 Days in the Adirondacks

Share

Recently we headed up north to the Adirondack region, not far from the popular Lake George vacation area.  We had 2 Days in the Adirondacks. Traveling with my friend and our kids, we stayed at Huttopia near Lake Luzurne for two nights. What did we do?  We got the kids outdoors! Just under 3 hours from the Northern Westchester/Putnam County Line.

Day 1: After check in, we went to check out the lake.  Along the road to downtown, we found a small sown beach for the kids to swim and jump off a mini bridge a bunch of times.  They had a ball doing it over and over.  Cannonball! While we didn’t fish while there, it had been an option too.   That night we ate at Huttopia and made a fire for s’mores.

Day 2: We went to Saratoga National Historic Park.  The kids did their Junior Ranger packets and we did our passport book stamps and then went on a 4 mile hike/walk learning about the park on Wilkinson Trail.  For the kids their is an audio tour we listened to our on phones.  There were markers along the trail for which audio file to listen to.  They also have an adult one, we listened to both along our hour plus hike.  A great conversation starter for the kids who asked questions until next sound clip.

After hiking we went into the village of Lake George and walked around, we went to Fort Henry but did not do tour just some shopping.  The kids wanted to do the House of Frankenstein Wax Museum, not for the faint of heart. Not sure who pushed who more to go in front the kids or moms. A little more shopping and then we let the kids go to the arcade with $20 each which kept them entertained for a good chunk of time.

Day 3:  Another hike!  This one was Hadley Fire Tower.  I was wiped, a 1.8 mile hike up hill entire time on rocky terrain. Highly recommend hiking boats, also for older kids and teens. The view from the top was worth it but many breaks were needed for me. Heading back downhill was a breeze.   Afterwards a quick stop for coffee and we headed home.
