Since rainy days happen, and put a kaput on your outdoor plans. You know on those days the kids are bored, annoying siblings and you, they’re and restless and need something fun to occupy your day indoors. Here’s a list of what you can do at home for no cost at all! I promise you can entertain your kids for an entire rainy day in addition to spending some quality time with your little ones. So turn off that television and roll up your sleeves and do some rainy day activities!!

  • Finger Paint: If you have a toddler this is perfect. Kids love to create art masterpieces.  This is a great activity for them. It can be messy, but messy is fun.  We have an art cabinet in our house. My 4 year old loves to glue, paint, and create art works for Daddy or to send to an out of town family member. You can also keep it clean and draw, color or practice writing.
  • Toddler Science Experiments:  My daughter loves experiments.  Usually you can find age appropriate experiments with ingredients already in your house. Check out our Pinterest board “Kid Crafts” for other great ideas too.  My daughter loves “Witches Brew” and “Changing Milk Science Project” and “Puffy Paint” So simple and WILL occupy your child for at least an hour 😉 SCORE!!
  • Bake: Kids love to help in the kitchen. Its a great lesson for them and your family can reap the benefits of some yummy baked good! Get on your apron and create yummy goodness!
  • Play Doh / Sand: You can either make your own playdoh (check out our pinterest board). This is always a pleaser.
  • Build a fort: Blankets, sheets, pillows – Kids love to create a new space to play in. Great time to gear up your imagination… are you in a cave? Sailing a ship? Possibilities are endless!
  • Blow bubbles:What kid doesn’t LOVE bubbles?! Practice popping them, add in some counting or ABC’s.
  • Play hide & seek!
  • Toy Clean up:  (aka- toy purge)  Rainy days are GREAT for cleaning & organizing.  Have you kids help. They can assist with the downsizing of playrooms, toy boxes and shelves. Bonus for parents too!
  • Do a puzzle.  Have the whole family work on one and frame it when complete.
  • Movie Day: My daughter absolutely loves when I make a bed on the living room floor. Blankets, pillows and in our case a blow up mattress. Put on a movie, make a snack and invite the kiddies for a movie! Fun for everyone!.

Check out our PINTERST  boards for more ideas. Also we have a list of summer fun activities that are free or very cheap and some are indoor too! Some Apple Moms are also huge fans of Kiwi Crates which are shipped monthly to your house. Everything is included in the box to complete 2-3 craft sets.
