Hello Apple Moms!   I don’t know about you but nothing say’s “the beginning of summer” quite like Memorial Day weekend.  In case you’re not barbecuing we encourage you to visit one of our local parades and pay tribute to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.  There is a valuable teaching lesson for our children here. Here’s a few picks for the weekend…

Trolls & Tiaras

Celebrate the magic of the forest and scout the woods for fairies, trolls, and gnomes. Listen to some mythical lore, build fairy and troll houses, and more. Dress up is encouraged!  (Paid event)

Turtle Monitoring

During the spring and summer Westmoreland conducts turtle monitoring as part of their conservation efforts allowing  access to the health and well being of our turtle population.  This programs will show participants a glance at the lives of our local turtles, turtle identification, creating a backyard habitat suitable for turtles, and learning what to do should you come across a turtle crossing the road.. (Paid event, free for memebers)

Kite Day at Croton Landing

Bicycle Sundays

During Bicycle Sundays, a portion of the Bronx River Parkway is closed to cars for the exclusive use of bicyclists, joggers, walkers, scooters, strollers, etc. The course runs from the Westchester County Center in White Plains, south to Scarsdale Road in Yonkers, for a round-trip of 13.1 miles. (Free event)

Farm Fest at Hilltop Hanover Farms
