Hey everyone! Can you feel the summer vibes!?  We’ve been grilling our tails off and I haven’t met a food I don’t love grilled 😉  Our backyard is open definitely for the season! Hello Summer 🙂  I’ve got a list of ideas for staying fun in the sun this week! 😉 Check out story times, festivals, crafts, walk-for-a-cause and so much more! Rockland County Beaches are Open!

Lake Welch Beach, 800 Kanawaukee Road, Stony Point. May 23 through June 24. The beach is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on weekends and Memorial Day only. June 25 through Sept. 7, the beach is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m.-7 p.m. weekends. $8 per vehicle for parking.

Rockland Lake State Park Pool, 299 Rockland Lake Road, Valley Cottage. Swimming schedule is 11 a.m.-6:45 p.m. weekends and holidays, May 23 through June 28. June 29 through Aug. 22, the pool will also be open 10 a.m.-5:45 p.m. weekdays. Aug. 22 through Sept. 7, it’s weekends only 11 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. $8 parking fee per vehicle. $2 adult pool admission, $1 for children.

Openings Soon: 

Bear Mountain State Park Pool Open: June 21 through Sept. 7. 11 a.m.-6:30 p.m. weekends, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays. $8 per vehicle parking fee, $2 adult pool admission, $1 for children 12 and under.

High Tor State Park Pool, 415 South Mountain Road, New City. Open 8 a.m.-7:30 p.m. June 20 through Aug. 23 every day except Mondays and Tuesdays. Pool admission is $6, $4 for children and there are no parking fees.

 

Memorial Day Watchfire will be lit at midnight May 29 and will burn for 24 hours until midnight May30. The Pier will be open on these dates and permits are not required. Maybe make an evening out of it..if you haven’t yet discovered the beauty of Piermont, make this your opportunity to check it out.

Wednesdays  May 27 – Cropsey Community Farm is open for visits

222 S. Little Tor Rd New City. $10 per child.

Cropsey Community Farm offers tours, picnics and full day field trips for students and families of all ages. Come down for an unforgettable day of interactive learning, playing, exploring, and growing on the farm. There will be plenty of nibbling to do in the fields and hoop houses. Sunday May 31 – Rockland & Orange Counties Great Strides Walk

9am-12:30pm -Albertus Magnus High School  798 N& 304 Bardonia

Great Strides provides a great opportunity for people within the community to get involved in a great cause. Participants can form walk teams.  Walk day is a fun, family-oriented event with a healthy 5k walk, children’s activities, food, and festivities that participants look forward to year after year.
Great Strides is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s largest national fundraising event. Each year, more than 125,000 people participate in hundreds of walks across the country to raise funds for cystic fibrosis research and drug development.


Sunday May 31 – Wags for Wheels Dog Walk – 9am-12pm

Children’s Park – Grotke Road Chestnut Ridge, NY

This is the 3rd annual Wags for Wheels Dog Walk. The event is a dog and family walk held at Children’s Park in Chestnut Ridge, NY. Visit the Meals on Wheels web site at www.mowrockland.org/dogwalk for complete information and to register.

Through Sunday May 31 – Garner Arts Festival Sculpture Showcase/Contest  – Palisades Center Mall

Palisades Center Mall  is showcasing two sculptures from Garner Arts Festival. Find “Isabella” by James Tyler on Level 1 in the East Court, and “Standing Wave” by Eric David Laxman on Level 1 in JCPenney Court.
