Nyack Memorial Park Shoreline Cleanup 9am-12pm
Join Keep Rockland Beautiful, the Rockland County Water Task Force and Riverkeeper for shoreline cleanup of Nyack’s Memoiral Park on Saturday, May 9, 2015 for the fourth annual Riverkeeper Sweep, a day of service for the Hudson River.
Memorial Park is located at the intersection of Piermont Avenue and Depew Avenue. Volunteers can park in the Memorial Park parking lot or on nearby streets. Please meet the group under the gazebo located next to the baseball field. We ask all Sweep volunteers to wear sturdy shoes or boots (rain/rubber boots are highly recommended), clothing that they can get dirty, and to bring a hat, sunscreen, a reusable water bottle and snacks. This site is suitable for elementary-aged children with proper adult supervision.
Haverstraw Waterfront Cleanup – 10am -2pm
Join the Haverstraw Center, Keep Rockland Beautiful, the Rockland County Water Task Force and Riverkeeper for their cleanup of Emeline Park and the adjacent shoreline to the north on Saturday, May 9, 2015 for the fourth annual Riverkeeper Sweep, a day of service for the Hudson River.
Volunteers can park and meet at the Municipal Lot at the Intersection of Liberty Street and Broad Street. Parking for all Sweep volunteers will be free. We ask all Sweep volunteers to wear sturdy shoes or boots, clothing that they can get dirty, and to bring a hat, sunscreen, a reusable water bottle and snacks. Join a museum educator to meet the live “animal of the week” each Saturday and Sunday. Families can learn characteristics of the animal and how it came to live at the nature center. Afterward, check out the nature center’s current Mastodon and Brook Trout exhibits. Nature Center hours are Friday through Sunday, 12-4pm.
