Putnam & Dutchess Weekly Events 9/29 – 10/5
My two year olds second day of school this week was a huge hit again! My 6 year old is driving my nuts talking about Halloween costumes already! I refuse to look until October, which is NEXT week! I love fall in the Northeast though and I hope everyone is getting out to enjoy the beautiful weather we have been having!

Fertile Minds Garden Time: Our newest learning space is outdoors! Join us as we head into the new Children’s Garden @ MHCM to learn about growing food and to practice gardening techniques. This program is free with museum admission.
Friday September 30th

Starlab: Journey into the museum’s StarLab Planetarium to learn basic astronomy concepts. After the program you’ll be able to find real constellations in the night sky!

Window Painting: For children of all ages; from 1:30 – 4 PM (rain date is October 2). Help make the business windows in Putnam Lake look festive for Halloween! We’ll have decorating ideas available or paint your own ‘Halloween Scene’. This is a free event and all supplies will be provided.

Kids DIY: Join our hands-on workshop and you and your child can build a toy fire truck with real wheels so you can race it to the rescue! Once the toy truck is built, your child can decorate it with paint & vehicle stickers.
Stony Kill Farm, Wappingers Falls
Harvest Festival: Celebrate the fall season at Stony Kill Farm. Bring the family and visit our animals, watch blacksmithing, jump on the hay ride, apple bob, make a scarecrow, make a candle, taste the Verplanck Garden Club soups, enjoy music, crafts, and an apple pie and chili contest. Free admission and free parking. Proceeds from our bake sale, concessions, mercantile and gift shop benefit our livestock.

Family Art Fest: Children and their families can enjoy a range of ongoing hands-on art activities inspired by the current exhibitions, and child-friendly interactive “mini-tours” of the galleries will be offered throughout the afternoon. Best suited for ages 5–10, participants can drop in at any time.
