Hi Apple Moms!  Hope everyone is surviving the heat!  My almost 5 year old and I are escaping to Wisconsin to this weekend to visit family!  If you are sticking around here, make sure to check out some these local events!

Wednesday August 19th

Staatsburgh Historic Site – Staatsburgh

Concert – Hot Rod Band 6:30pm

Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum, Poughkeepsie

Silly Sculptures – We’ll learn about artist Sandy Calder and then we’ll give you a foam base and materials to create your very own masterpiece sculpture with.  $5.00 materials fee per child. 10:30am & 2:30pm

Thursday August 20th

Schlathaus Park, Wappingers Falls

THE HARVEST BAND repertoire includes classic rock, top 40, Motown, disco, contemporary country, Broadway, standards and dance tunes.

Mahopac Library, Mahopac

Fancy Nancy Tea Party – Head over for stories, crafts and tea! 4pm

Friday August 21st

Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum, Poughkeepsie

Captain Bubble Science Show – This zany superhero science show will empower children to be scientists as they learn about states of matter, energy and chemical reactions. Highlights of the show include amazing helium bubbles, bubble-powered rockets and children actually being put inside a bubble. $3.00 per person. 10:30am & 2:30pm

Saturday August 22nd

New Hackensack Fire Department – Wappingers Fall

First Responder Memorial Car Show – Featuring Vintage Fire Apparatus, Police Cars and Ambulances (no Reg. Fee); Cars, trucks & Motorcycles through 2001

Lakeside Park, Pawling

Music by the Lake – HOTROD returns with their unique take on classic rock featuring great songs you just don’t hear from other bands; in addition, this year they will feature a special tribute to Jim Morrison and the Doors!

Sunday August 23rd

Madava Farms, Dover Plains

Pancake Breakfast – Enjoy a delicious pancake breakfast at the Sugarhouse. Seating times for this event: 9:30am and 11:00am. Reservations Required.

Tuesday August 25th

Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum, Poughkeepsie

ABC, 123: LOOKING FOR LOST LETTERS  The letter of the month is “L”! We’re heading outside to the pavilion because all of the letters got lost!  It’s up to us to find them! We’ll have tons of sensory fun fishing letters from water, unburying them in the sand and even finding them in shaving cream. Once we find the letters will use them to trace and stamp some lovely art!  This program is free with museum admission @10:30 & 2:30
