Putnam County EventsDutchess County EventsI hope everyone enjoyed their 4th of July, now it is time to get back to the business of summer vacation in house!  We all went to the dentist this morning, all of us are cavity free and my 5 year old is super excited to be moved up a toothbrush size.  The dentist also told her it looks like her bottom teeth are getting lose!  We will be catching up with friends this week, but if you are looking for something to do here are the best places to check out!

Thursday July 7th

Brewster Library, Brewster

Mini Manicures: Children ages 4-12 are invited to treat themselves to a manicure!  Please register your child and we will contact you to schedule a 15 minute appointment.

Mahopac Library, Mahopac

Two by Two Zoo: Get up close and personal with some of nature’s most interesting creatures such as a boa constrictor, alligator, blue & gold macaw, tortoise, hedgehog, bearded dragon, and a kangaroo. Learn fun facts about the animals and then stick around after the show for a meet and greet!

Barton Orchards, Poughquag

Hot Air Balloon Festival:The Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce is planning the 26th annual Hudson Valley Hot-Air Balloon Festival on July 8-10, 2016. We are expecting another great weekend with about 100 balloon launches between Friday and Sunday. Included this year will be family activities, tethered balloon rides, great Hudson Valley food and drink, the opportunity to ride in a hot-air balloon, as well as entertainment including fireworks and music!Check the website for updates http://www.dcrcoc.org/balloonfestival. For continuously updated launch information, visit the Chamber’s Facebook page or Twitter.

Friday July 8th

Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum, Poughkeepsie

Starlab: Journey into the museum’s StarLab Planetarium to learn basic astronomy concepts. After the program you’ll be able to find real constellations in the night sky!  $3 per person, plus museum admission.

Saturday July 9th

Village of Beacon

       Second Saturday: City-wide celebration of the arts held on the second Saturday of every month.  Special events, art gallery openings, artist receptions and culinary tastings. Many galleries and shops stay open until 9pm! Visit www.beaconarts.org for an up to date listing.

Lakeside Park, Pawling

Music by the Lake: “Back To The garden 1969” has become a fixture of the Music By The Lake series, and a Pawling favorite. They will once again be bringing the Woodstock experience to Lakeside Park. If you haven’t seen these extremely talented musicians before, you’re in for a treat.

Upper Landing Park, Poughkeepsie

Movies Under the Walkway: Movie Minions, Bank The Creation  The entertainment will take place at Upper Landing Park. In addition to the movies, there will also be live music performances, contests and events before the showing of each movie.

Build & Grow Falcon: Marvel’s Falcon is flying to a Lowe’s near you this weekend! Bring your child to Lowe’s to build their very own Falcon!

Sunday July 10th

Locust Grove, Poughkeepsie

Antique Car Show: Join us for one of the best car shows around! Beautifully presented on the shady estate grounds, cars from every decade will astound your eye. Expect dozens of pre-1917 cars as well as streamlined beauties from the 1950s, fins from the 1970s, and muscle cars from the 1980s. 9am – 3pm, arrive by 2pm to enjoy the most vehicles. Breakfast and lunch on-site in Locust Grove’s air conditioned West Gallery. Admission $8/person, kids under 6 are free.

Monday July 11th

Kent Library, Kent

Meet the Animals: The Nature of Things an environmental educational outreach program funded by a grant from the NY State Library’s Family Literacy Library Services program. Registration is required. Children  CANNOT attend program alone, Parent(s) must accompany child and register themselves. This is a chance to see and handle mammals and birds up close

Tuesday July 12th

Meet the Llamas: Meet real llamas and learn all sorts of interesting facts about them. Everyone will have a chance to ask questions plus pet them, groom them, feed them and take photographs with them!
