Hi Apple Moms!  I hope everyone had a fabulous 4th of July weekend!  We are off on another family adventure this week to Rhode Island!  I hope everyone is enjoying the summer as much as we are and make sure you are checking out everything our wonderful area has to offer!

Wednesday July 8th

Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum, Poughkeepsie

Messy Art Workshop 10:30am & 2:30pm

Friday July 10th – Sunday July 12th

25th Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce Balloon Festival

Balloon launches are planned throughout the weekend.  On Friday and Saturday evenings at 6 pm, mass launches are planned on the banks of the Hudson River from the area just south of Shadows on the Hudson. On Saturday and Sunday mornings at 6 am, mass launches are planned from the Dutchess County Airport. There are also moon-glows during the evening hours.

Hopewell Depot Restoration, Hopewell Junction

Arts & Crafts Fair  Shop and visit the restored Train Depot at the southern end of the Dutchess Count Rail Trail in Hopewell Junction.

Create Your Own Superhero with Howard Mackie Marvel Comic Book writer!

Join comic book writer Howard Mackie (Spider-Man, X-Men, Ghost Rider, Batman and many more) and learn how to bring your wildest ideas to life. Howard will help you dig down, get creative and think about all the things that go into creating a superhero. He will give a brief description of how comic books are created, and then the real fun begins. A ‘working lunch’ of pizza will be served. Ages 10 and up.

Sunday July 12th

Locust Grove Estate, Poughkeepsie

Classic Car Show More than 300 antique and classic cars arrive at Locust Grove for one of the best car shows around. Lunch and snacks are available on-site. Go early and spend the day! Arrive by 3pm to see the most classic cars on the field.

Staatsburgh State Historic Site, Staatsburgh

 “Skull & Bones” offers children ages 6-9 the chance to become detectives. Children examine animal skulls to learn clues that reveal if each animal was a predator or prey animal, and that show if it was an herbivore, a carnivore, or an omnivore.  The cost is $2. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 845-889-8851, extension 338.
