It is officially summer!  We are finishing out the school year this week with half days and then have our final Girl Scout party this weekend!  If you are looking for a great way to finish off your school year here are some of your best bets!

 

Thursday June 23rd

Vassar College, Poughkeepsie

Arlington Farmer’s Market: 3:00pm to 7:00pm Family Day at the Arlington Farmers’ Market. Local businesses and agencies who work or cater to families will be on hand to give out educational and recreational information about services available in the Poughkeepsie area. There will be free snacks , face painting, a clown and activities for the youth. The day will conclude with a concert by “Rat Boy Junior” at 6:30pm.

Friday June 24th

Walkway Over the Hudson, Poughkeepsie

Movie Night:Free movie nights in Poughkeepsie are back. The entertainment will take place at Upper Landing Park. In addition to the movies, there will also be live music performances, contests and events before the showing of each movie.  This week is Back to the Future (Matthew Finck and Friends)

Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum, Poughkeepsie

Celebrate Summer:Kick-off summer at the Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum! This year’s Celebrate Summer Event will be the BIGGEST and BEST EVER! Family Sing Along: Let Chris Ruhe lead you and the family in some classic folk songs around the campfire circle. Be sure to stop in at the barn and visit our animals

Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum, Poughkeepsie

Learn to Ride—Kids is a free group class for children who are ready to ditch their training wheels and ride a two-wheeler for the first time. With a safe, easy, effective method and experienced Bike New York instructors, kids will learn how to balance, pedal, start, stop, and steer a bicycle. Most students get the hang of it in one session, but even if they don’t, parents will leave equipped with an easy, low-stress technique that will have their kids riding independently in no time.

Ice Cream Social: School’s out so let’s celebrate! Stop by Warren Beach at 1:30 PM sharp for free ice cream (rain date is June 28). Don’t forget to bring your friends – the more the merrier! 

Tuesday June 28th

Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum, Poughkeepsie

Afternoon ABC’s: This month we’re learning about shapes!  We’ll search the Museum from top to bottom to see what shapes we can find in the real world.  Then, we’ll learn creative ways to make shapes to hang from our very own shape-mobiles.
