April is here and so is the month of birthday parties! We have a birthday party every Saturday this month. So while we are partying here are some family events to check out this weekend! Don’t forget to check out our list of Egg hunts too if you haven’t gotten your fill yet!

Friday April 7th

Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum, Poughkeepsie

Early Learning Junction: This guided play experience will give parents and kids new ideas of what do to in this popular exhibit space. We will focus on trains and read some fun train stories.  This program is free with paid museum admission.

Saturday April 8th

Family Partnership Center, Poughkeepsie

Spring Fever Family Day Join us to welcome spring and celebrate nature with this day of activities for children and families.  There will be workshops for children and families on pollinators, planting seeds, garden visitors, cooking from the garden, and more. We will also have a children’s book author and a book fair with new books at discounted prices. Event collaborators include The Environmental Cooperative, Poughkeepsie Public Library District, Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum, Cornell Cooperative Extension, and Dutchess Outreach.

Michaels, All Areas

Kids Club: 10-Noon Kids Club® Tissue Paper Stained Glass $2 a child. (APPLEMOMS Favorite), All Areas

MakeBreak: 1-3 MakeBreak® Slime Bar. (APPLEMOMS Favorite), All Areas

Clearpool Campus, Carmel

Amphibian Hunt: Once the “winter wet” has disappeared, and the grounds thaw, amphibians emerge from their winter hibernation and meet up at nearby water bodies and seek a mate. Explore the Clearpool wetlands and search for frogs, toads and salamanders.  You’ll learn a bit about the amphibian life cycle as you help Clearpool manage its ecological resources and add to facility’s ongoing amphibian tally.  Dress for the outdoors and muddy, wet conditions. All children must be accompanied by an adult

Sunday April 9th

Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum, Poughkeepsie

Sensory Sunday: Sensory Hours allow families with young children with autism and other sensory integration challenges to explore MHCM exhibits in a modified environment with reduced sound, designated quiet spaces, extra visual signage and sensory aids.  Sensory Hours are held the second Sunday of each month from 9:00 am – 11:00 am.  Preregistration is required, as space will be limited. Please note:  Sensory Hours are for young children ages 0-8 as MHCM gallery spaces and exhibits are designed for little kid bodies.

Howland Cultural Center, Beacon

Classics for Kids The Howard Chamber music Circle and the Howland Cultural Center are wild excited to revive our “Classic for Kids” series.  There’s no better piece to welcome back this series than Peter and the Wolf.
