Spring finally feels like it might be here to stay! My 5 year old dragged me out this weekend to start getting our garden ready. We ended up coming home with two seed starter kits, four packets of flowers and two trees! Yup I had to drive home with trees sticking out of my sunroof on Sunday! If your kids aren’t into planting though here are a few other places to get out to.

Making Masterpieces Earth Day Bird Feeders – Celebrate Earth Day with us! We’ll learn about the concepts of “reduce, reuse and recycle” as we make an artistic bird feeder for spring. $5 materials fee per child (adults free).

Family Learning Night 1+1 = FUN – Children will participate in fun hands-on activities while parents collect cards with tips and hints to support learning at home. In April, we are focusing on fun science and math activities that you can add to your daily routines at home. Includes a light meal, fun activities, and take-home activity cards. Museum Showcase Early Learning Junction – This guided play experience will give parents and kids new ideas of what do to in this popular exhibit space. We will focus on trains and read some fun train stories. This program is free with paid museum admission.

Morning Children’s Series – From an assortment of surprise packages comes four very special gifts…the gifts of storyteller Hans Christian Andersen. Out of a bright birthday box steps ‘The Steadfast Tin Soldier’ to tell of his undying love for a paper dancing doll. A dilapidated old crate yields the comic tale of ‘The Ugly Duckling” The quartet of tales concludes with the touching romance of ‘The Little Mermaid’ who loves a human being… the story discovered in an ancient sea chest. Performed by Kids on Stage, The CENTER’s after-school workshop program, directed by Lisa Lynds.
