Beacon Institute, Beacon

WOW Series for Kids: Learn how New York’s sturgeon, beaver, box turtle, wolf and bald eagle have survived 400 years of human settlement. Hudson Highlands Nature Museum Environmental Educator Megan Hoffman will trace this Hudson Valley history with visual help from Sensor Place’s 3D watershed exhibit

Starr Library, Rhinebeck

Sinterklaas Coloring Workshop: Christina Baal, Author of 10,000 Birds and an owl expert will tell everyone owl tales and facts.  Bea Lambert, who makes all the small puppets for Sinterklaas, will demonstrate mask coloring.

James & Betty Hall Theatre Dutchess Community College, Poughkeepsie

Family Festival Show: Before Pocahontas sets off on her vision quest, her father, Chief Powhatan insists that she prepare properly.  A Native American folktale is shared, as well as the friendship dance with John Smith. Audience participants harvest the planting mounds and Pocahontas’ “brothers and sisters” test their bravery in a bat-filled cave. She then plays a creative imagination game before she departs on her quest.

Fishkill Farms, Fishkill

Touch a Tractor: We’re pulling out all of our biggest and coolest equipment for kids to check out and get their pictures* taken on. Our farm team will be on hand to supervise and educate all those who wish to explore. 

Mahopac Library, Mahopac

DIY Storytime: Drop in between 10 am and 3 pm to read to your children from a selection of picture books and use the available craft materials to create something together.
