We had a small taste of winter this afternoon, and my 5 year old was thrilled to see some snowflakes. She is getting impatient waiting for “good snowperson making snow”. We are heading to WI for the weekend to visit family so hopefully her wihes will come true there! If you are hanging around here though, here are some of the best things to check out!

Wednesday January 13th

Mid Hudson Children’s Museum, Poughkeepsie

Snow Globe Making – Make a very special winter keepsake!  Children will first sculpt snowmen or other winter scenes, then (with our educator’s help) they will test various liquids to see which one makes for the very best floating snow.  $5 per child, plus museum admission

Friday January 15th

Patterson Library, Patterson

Flannel Friday – Beat the cold with Flannel Friday! Wear your warm, comfy flannels and listen to a flannel board story.

Mid Hudson Children’s Museum, Poughkeepsie

Starlab – Journey into the museum’s StarLab Planetarium to learn basic astronomy concepts.  After the program you’ll be able to find real constellations in the night sky!  $3 per person, plus museum admission.

Saturday, January 16th

Kent Library, Kent

LEGO Day – Drop by the library and build a Lego creation based on a chosen theme. Once built the creation will be put on display, for all to see!

Mid Hudson Children’s Museum, Poughkeepsie

Family Free Night – MHCM is open late this night and admission is FREE from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  Family Free Nights are sponsored by M&T Bank.

Sunday January 17th

Fishkill Recreation Center, Fishkill

Challahmania  – Learn how Challah dough is made, the art of braiding, and come home with your very own Challah masterpiece! Presented by Pardess Center for Jewish Life. Children ages 4 and up. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
