Happy St. Patrick’s Day! We marched in the parade in Mahopac on Sunday with the Girl Scouts, and had so much fun! This week is looking pretty wet but still warm so get out and check out some of the great things our area has to offer! Wednesday March 15th
Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum, Poughkeepsie
Making Masterpieces: Felt Art – Working with colorful wool roving children will build a “painting” with fiber. Felt is made when layers of wool roving are bonded together and flattened using the art process of wet felting. Through the magic of the wet felting process, children will turn this light and fluffy wool into a beautiful and permanent felt art creations to take home. $5.00 materials fee per child (adults free).
Friday March 18th
Mahopac Library, Mahopac
New Mom’s Group – Mom’s with children one and under. Run by two public health nurses go to meet people or ask any questions. Runs from 2 to 4pm
Patterson Library, Patterson
Lego Club – Show off your incredible imagination and building skills by tackling our monthly theme, or choosing your own theme with the library’s Legos. We will display some of your creations for 2 weeks so bring a camera! Have any Legos to donate to the library? Bring them with you!
Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum, Poughkeepsie
Starlab What’s a Constellation? – Journey into the museum’s StarLab Planetarium to learn basic astronomy concepts. After the program you’ll be able to find real constellations in the night sky! $3 per person, plus museum admission.
Saturday March 19th
Main Street, Millerton
Cookie Festival -Come to Millerton and eat free cookies! The Millerton Merchants will be offering a tray of cookies in their stores! Bring your kids! Celebrate the end of winter with sweet treats!
The Center for Performing Arts, Rhinebeck
Ahoy Mateys! Pirate School – Billy Bones takes kids on a wild ride upon the high seas. The madcap adventure includes antics like slapstick comedy, eccentric props, original music, special effects, swordplay, magic, a mischievous water-squirting cannon, a furry puppet sidekick, and much more. Recommended ages 4 and up.
Stony Kill Farm, Wappingers Falls
Open Barn – Enjoy a guided tour of a working farm with live animals from 11am to 1pm. Formely a part of the Verplanck family estate, which also included the Mount Gulian Historic Site in Beacon, a Colonial homestead also open to visitors. Trails and grounds are open to all from sunrise to sunset for hiking and nature enjoyment.
Sunday March 20th
Howland Cultural Center, Beacon
Family Concert – Come hear the Ezra duo, classical guitarist Maoz Ezra and his wife, Soprano, Leilah Dione Ezra, perform everything from “Bach to Barnyard Dance” at a free family concert event!
