My 5 year old came home today with a packet about March coming in like a lion, and out like a lamb. I am thinking we have a pretty confused lion on our hands right now but I will take it! It’s going to be beautiful this week so get out there and enjoy!

Wednesday March 9th
Mid-Hudson Children’s Musuem, Poughkeepsie
Making Masterpieces Working with colorful wool roving children will build a “painting” with fiber. Felt is made when layers of wool roving are bonded together and flattened using the art process of wet felting. Through the magic of the wet felting process, children will turn this light and fluffy wool into a beautiful and permanent felt art creations to take home. $5.00 materials fee per child (adults free).
Friday March 11th

New Mom’s Group – Free parenting group for mothers of children, birth to one year. Siblings welcomed.

Museum Showcase – Rivertown First will go to the bank, and count our money. Then will go to the store to see what healthy food we can buy. This guided play experience will give parents and kids new ideas of what to do in this popular exhibit. This program is included with museum admission.

MapleFEST – Enjoy a guided tour of a working farm with live animals from 11am to 1pm. Formely a part of the Verplanck family estate, which also included the Mount Gulian Historic Site in Beacon, a Colonial homestead also open to visitors. Trails and grounds are open to all from sunrise to sunset for hiking and nature enjoyment.

Maple Breakfast Enjoy a pancake breakfast in our sunny Dining Hall followed by a short walk to the Sugar House to see first-hand the process of boiling down sap to make pure maple syrup. You’ll also tap a maple tree, make a maple craft or learn how to identify a sugar maple tree on a guided forest hike.

St. Patricks Day Parade – Our parade is the third largest in New York state and takes place on Route 6 in Mahopac, New York. This parade is meant to recognize and celebrate Irish culture, heritage and pride.
