Hope everyone is having a great start to your school year!  We kicked off first grade last week and she is LOVING it so far!  My 2 year old though NOT so happy that she is not allowed to take the bus yet.  She will start a 2’s program in a couple of weeks though so hopefully it will hold her over for a little bit.  In the meantime there is a bunch of exciting stuff happening this week so get out there and enjoy!

Thursday September 15th

Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum, Poughkeepsie

Fertile Minds Garden Time: Our newest learning space is outdoors!  Join us as we head into the new Children’s Garden @ MHCM to learn about growing food and to practice gardening techniques.  This program is free with museum admission.

Friday September 16th

Showcase Thinker Linker: These versatile building pieces are sometimes overlooked by museum guests as they explore our “Link! Lift! Launch!” exhibition space.  But, we’ll take a closer look at what they can do … and offer you some new tools and tricks so you can build amazing creations.

Yard Sale: Check all the goodies that in this Village wide yard sale!

East Fishkill Recreation Park, East Fishkill

Community Day: Takes place at the East fishkill Recreation Park on Route 376. The event features a parade on Route 82 from Trinka Lane to the Recreation Park starting at 11:30am and Community Activities, great food and more at the Recreation Park until 4:30pm.

Founders Day: It’s a day of food, music, rides, various businesses and community Groups. Many of our participants return year after year, gathering to Celebrate the founding of our beautiful village.

Monday September 19th

Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum, Poughkeepsie

Ribbon Cutting Children’s Garden: Our newest learning space is outdoors and was developed to help young children and families learn about growing their own food and practice gardening techniques.  Our garden features raised beds of different heights with demonstration plantings and practice areas, plus a new potting shed, compost area and outdoor classroom. Families with children are encouraged to attend.  This event is rain or shine.  Free parking is available at the Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum.  Light refreshments will be served.  Please note: the museum is NOT open to the public, but private behind-the-scenes tours will be given for attendees following the formal event program.

Tuesday September 20th

Afternoon ABC 123 Crazy Counting Conundrums: What do cotton ball catapults, pretend lava, and mystery eggs have in common?  They are crazy games that make simple counting and addition fun!  We’ll explore these games and more in this month’s Afternoon ABC 123.

Wednesday September 21st

Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum, Poughkeepsie

Storytime: Join Ed, our special guest volunteer, as he makes some of his favorite stories come alive!  This program is best for children ages 3-5.  Free with museum admission.
