Product Review: Verizon’s LG GizmoGadget

Share

I have a new product favorite, especially as a busy and active family whose kids are not always with them.  Verizon Wireless and LG have watches that are phones and trackers.  Yup, you heard that right.   You can call or GPS track your  child.  We checked out two of the choices you have, Gizmo Gadget and Gizmo Pal 2.  We liked both but Gizmo Gadget is our favorite.

We did have to explain when to and when not to use the Gizmo.  That it was not a toy, but a phone, a communication device for them to use with us.  Some reminders the first few days, or when they wanted to show off to their friends.  Once the newness wore off, they were just wearing them without playing around.

Quick rundown of the Gizmo Pal 2- just a phone and tracker and can only be hooked up to 5 numbers. GizmoPal 2 which is better for the younger ages and the cheaper choice.  Gizmo Gadget is only in red and navy, Pal 2 is in light blue and pink. This is $5 a month after purchase of watch Gadget is $149 and Pal 2 $80, although check for sales at retailers.

This is why we love it:

GPS tracker.  This the best part and I wish I had when Jack was little and was lost at a popular theme park.   This is great for young ones who go to after school programs, between parents with custody, and children with Autism or other disabilities.  For those children who won’t wear it, you could always stick in their bags.

There is an APP to use to send messages back and forth.  You can grant people permission to access the GizmoHub app.  Although you still can restrict who can use all the features. Through the app you can also set times phone will not ring, when Gizmo will alert you that the watch went to an area you set an alert up for.  Want to know when your child arrives at school?  When they arrive home? You will get alerts without the child doing anything.

My kids have been fascinated with my step counter, the kids can track their fitness now too.  Parents can set goals for them and see if they can reach them.

Programmable with text messages that are sent only through the GizmoHub app make communication easy for young ones. Also emojis can be sent which are fun for kids.  Messages are alerted to your phone via the GizmoHub notifications.

Device is programable to CALL up to 10 numbers.  They CANNOT call other Gizmos.  The kids were disappointed about this, but secretly I was happy.  Only the numbers you add through the APP are able to call your child and your child can call.  So you figure, emergency people, parents, siblings with cell phones and grandparents and any other important person. Calls are UNLIMITED.

A watch, yes it tells time, you set up with one of 3 backgrounds for the Gizmo to show the time.

Disclosure: We received these Gizmo phones to borrow to facilitate the review.  We loved them, as always we are honest too!
