Homework Help

Children in grades 1-6 can receive free homework help from Newburgh Enlarged City School District teachers. Bilingual teachers available. No Registration required. Program runs Mondays-Thursdays through Dec. 18 from 4-6pm. Newburgh Free library, Story Hour Room.

Christmas on the Farm Trail with Eggbert

Visit Devitts for our areas favorite Christmas character, Eggbert The Talking Egg. Enjoy the Christmas trail which includes holiday displays, farm animals, and more! While you are there, you can buy your tree or other holiday decorations in the Christmas store. Open on Wednesdays & Friday-Sundays through December 21st at Devitts Nursery and Supply in New Windsor. Check their website, www.devittsnsy.com, for specific hours.

Thursday, December 4th

Barnes and Noble  Story Time

Storytime and activities for children held every Thursday at 1pm in the Children’s Department. Newburgh Crossing, 1245 Route 300 (Union Ave), Newburgh.

Friday, December 5th

Crafty Science

For kids in sixth grade to middle school. Make a cool craft and learn about science. Program to be held at 3:30 pm at Empowering Port Jervis located at 11 Fowler Street, Port Jervis.

Washingtonville Tree Lighting Ceremony

Annual tree lighting ceremony includes music, wine and other festivities. Free admission. Held from 7-9pm at the Brotherhood Winery in Washingtonville.

Saturday, December 6th

Breakfast with Santa 8am-10am

Girl Scout Troop 400 is sponsoring Breakfast with Santa at the American Legion from 8-10am. Price is $6.00 for adults, seniors and children 4-11yrs $5.00. and children under 3 are free. Photos with Santa will be available. Troop 400 will also be running Santa’s Gift Shop, so come stock up on small gifts for the holidays. American Legion, Greenwood lake.

Home Depot Kids Workshop – All locations

Come learn how to build festive Holiday Yard Stakes! The first Saturday of each month Home Depot hosts FREE hands-on workshops for kids. The activities are designed for children ages 5 – 12, but we have gone with our 3-year olds and they love it! Kids get to keep their crafts and they each receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a workshop apron, and a commemorative pin (while supplies last). Hours are 9am-12pm.

Holiday Gifts and Nature Crafts

Get creative and learn how to make holiday gifts from recycled materials and natural objects. Pre-registration required. 10am-12pm. Outdoor Discovery Center at Hudson Highlands Nature Museum, Cornwall.

Tail Waggin Tutors

Children can drop-in and read to volunteer licensed therapy dogs! Free. 11 Am. Newburgh Free Library, Main branch.

Good Cheere! Songs Celebrating the Season

“Broadway comes to Blooming Grove” with Goode Cheere! Celebrate the season with songs by some of the finest voices on Broadway and Opera stages today. Show starts at 6pm, but pre-show gourmet food is available at 5:30pm. General Admission $20; Seniors $15.  Landmark Blooming Grove United Church of Christ, Blooming Grove.

Winter Festival and Holiday Float Parade

The Winter Festival is being held from 1-5pm and includes hot cocoa for all, hay rides, crafts for kids, bonfire, and more! The float parade will start at 5pm, immediately after the festival, down Millpond Parkway and will conclude with the tree lighting on the island. Monroe, NY

Holiday Tree Lighting and Parade
Get in the holiday spirit with live entertainment, cocoa and cookies, cider and donuts, games and prizes, live nativity, petting zoo, and you can even decorate your own gingerbread cookies!  The parade brings in Santa before the lighting of the tree at 6pm. Free. 4-7pm. Village of Pine Bush.

Sunday, December 7th

Christmas in the Village

Museum Village is hosting a FREE event with a donation for Country Kids Food Pantry. Visit Santa, take a hayride, and enjoy holiday entertainment in The Playhouse (at 1:30pm). The event also includes crafts for the kids and delicious foods for purchase in the Snack Bar. The Gift Shop will be open if you want to buy some holiday gifts. 12-4pm. Museum Village, Monroe.

Lunch with Santa

Eat lunch and meet Santa! Between 12-4pm every Sunday until Christmas. Billy Joe’s Ribworks, Newburgh.

Frozen on the Farm

Devitts is hosting an appearance by the Anna & Elsa from the hit movie Frozen. 1-3pm. Arrive early so you don’t miss your chance to meet your favorite Snow Sisters! Devitts Nursery and Supply in New Windsor.

Mother-Daughter Holiday Tea
Mothers and daughters of all ages can spend time together while enjoying the delicious fare at MacArthur’s Riverview Restaurant. Reservations required. 3pm. The Thayer Hotel, West Point.

Chester Christmas Tree Lighting

Enjoy holiday activities with family and friends with caroling, hot chocolate and lots of fun! 5-6pm. Chester Historical Society.

Holiday Lights in Bloom

A fantastic light show filled with beautiful, garden themed light features in the forms of flowers, animals and insects that light up the Arboretum. Visit the Holiday Boutique for to purchase handmade crafts or to enjoy a free hot cocoa. Free Admission. 5-8pm. Orange County Arboretum, Montgomery.

West Point Holiday Show

The West Point Band has created an entertaining program with Broadway singer, Jay Montgomery. “’Twas the Night Before Christmas” will be read with a visit from Santa Claus! Free. Dec 6 at 2pm, Dec 7 at 12:30pm. Eisenhower Hall Theatre, West Point.
