NetNanny Protects Kids

Share

Technology and kids is a given these days.  Of course there are people dead set against it and some for it, I see both sides and straddle the middle of those roads.  My kids have been using iPads and iTouches for years now, we do have rules for use, and some times I wish they weren’t around.  Yet, there are and now they are not going anywhere.   70% of the time my kids are playing apps I choose for them or they asked for and I downloaded for them (I have restrictions to them downloading things), 20% of the time they are watching movies that are on device/in cloud and 10% youtube and in the internet.  That is the scary part for me.

I have heard many times about kids watching youtube videos. They can watch episodes of their shows, look up their favorite toys and watch short videos.  Well I thought it was innocent until my son came up to me asking “to pee on his train tracks”,  UM WHAT?! Yeah you heard me correctly, he was watching Thomas the Train videos, first episodes and then kids planning with them.  Well when one ends the next starts and the queue continues.  Well it continued to older kids (teens) going to the bathroom on kids toys, and for my son that was Thomas toys.  Yuck.

That moment made us limit his youtube and internet use immediately, even though it was tiny already.  NetNanny entered into our house recently.  NetNanny Protects Kids internet use. I was immediately interested in seeing how it would work and what it would do for the iPads/iTouches.  Installation was quick, once installed Safari browser became NetNanny to screen what was being opened and looked at.  There are many parent control settings for the “handheld iDevices” the app we downloaded works on.

NetNanny also offers apps/resources for desktops, PCs, Macs and other devices.  There are setting profiles on the different products depending on the devices.   Do you have teens with social media?  They have Social Media monitoring and help too, they are 100% committed to protecting your kids and family against cyber predators, pornography, cyber bullying and much more.  Let’s be honest to ourselves, even if we are preventing it now, the use- as little or as much as you allow, will happen and why not protect everyone.  I am happy that I did on my kids’ devices, I have tried and cannot find those videos even with searching.  Parents still need to monitor what their kids are doing on the internet and NetNanny can assist you.
