Irish Dogs and Rover.com

After recently attending an event for Rover.com, as a pet mom I am very interested in their services and mission.  Have you checked Rover.com out yet?  It seems around the Hudson Valley dogs are everywhere, we have two again Copper and Tod (Fox and the Hound anyone?)  With St. Patrick’s Day coming up Rover.com had a survey highlighting the most popular Irish dog name and trends.  Apparently we were ahead of the ball in 2006 when we named our dogs Bailey (pit bull) and Guinness (Rottie/Mastiff mix), our Irish duo.  Is your dog on the lists?  This is what Rover.com found out:

  • One of America’s most iconic Irish families influenced dog naming in 2015. Kennedy is among the top 10 most popular Irish female dog names
  • Move over Boston, Irish Dogs are Running Other Towns: Louisville, KY surprisingly ranks #1 for the most Irish-named dogs; San Francisco ranks #1 for most Irish dog breeds, with neighboring city Vallejo ranking #1 for most Irish food & beverage dog names
  • When it comes to dogs names that match the popular Irish color green, New York and Denver residents have money on their minds. Cash is the #1“Green” dog name in both cities
  • Dog names Inspired by Irish Celebrities? Watch out, your dog may be ‘Taken’! Liam hit the list as a Top 10 Irish Male Dog Name, perhaps due to the popularity of Irish Actor Liam Neeson.
  • Guinness isn’t just for St. Patrick’s Day! In addition to consistently being one of the most popular food & beverage-related Irish names across the U.S., Guinness also made the list for #3 alcohol-related top dog names in 2014
