Gazillion Bubble Show NYC: Review and Ticket Discount

Two of our Apple Families visited the Gazillion Bubble Show in the city.  I’ve heard of this show over and over again, but never been before, so I was happy to finally be checking it out.  It’s just so hard to justify traipsing the kids into Manhattan on a weekend!  But when I mentioned the opportunity to go see a show in the city to my seven year old daughter, she was ecstatic and the simple mention of “bubbles” and my four year old was sold!  Well, I am happy to report it was well worth the trip and well received by both the children and the adults.  If you haven’t heard of the show, you should check it out!image1 (5)

The Gazillion Bubble Show was developed and is performed all over the world by the Yang family.  Our “bubble artist” for this show was Deni Yang, a young man who has devoted his life to, well, bubbles!  The show starts with some cool bubble tricks and then Deni takes a break to introduce himself and explain how his family is involved with bubbles.  He shows the audience a video of him performing with bubbles at age four!  His experience certainly shows.  You’d be surprised all the tricks he can do with bubbles!

My kids loved watching the tricks, but they especially liked the parts when tons of bubbles poured into the audience.  Every time he did a trick, he would send his remaining bubbles into the audience.  The kids were hopping out of their seats in hopes of popping them.  To this end, it is worth noting, the best seats seemed to be in the center section of the audience.  The closer to the stage you were, the better!  We were seated “stage right”, so it took a little longer for the bubbles to reach our area and the kids were getting a little frustrated.  Not to worry though, the theater was rather small and all seats could reasonably be called “good.”

Of course, my children’s favorite part was when my son got called up on stage!  Throughout the show, Deni called a number of volunteers up on stage and he was lucky enough to be one of them.  He got to stand inside a giant bubble with some other brave volunteers and do his best cheeeeeeese face.  He was extra excited that the volunteers were given a souvenir of bubbles to take home!  Deni’s interaction with all the kids was really sweet.  He seemed to really enjoy working with the children and knew how to make them feel comfortable on stage.

For the final bit of the show, there is a little laser light performance.  I’ll be honest, this was cool but probably my least favorite part as it was a little unexpected.  The theater got dark and then came the lights with the loud music.  It actually got a little rise out of our little guy. It was cool, I just didn’t expect it and it was a bit of change of pace. Of course the very end of the show was a sort of “bubble encore” and that completely delighted the kids with, well, gazillions of bubbles pouring out into the audience.

In total, the show was a little over an hour with no intermission.  It felt quick and kept the kids and adults entertained the whole time.  Heck, I saw a baby on a lap cooing throughout the show!  There is a small souvenir stand outside the show with things like bubbles and bubble machines to buy, but we skipped that since you can buy Gazillion Bubble brand in most toy stores and well, Manhattan pricing and all.  There is also a cool photo souvenir opportunity before and after the show for “Me in a Bubble” for $20.
