EQUITY the Film – Women Empowerment
I just saw one of my new favorite adult movies, EQUITY, you know the ones without cartoons and having the kids sitting next you. One about women in the workplace, specifically the financial area and Wall Street. Although personal I am not in this field, the theme radiates to all female careers/jobs and the unfairness.
Following the intertwining of three women: the mom- Samantha (Alysia Reiner), the career woman Naomi Bishop (Anna Gunn) without kids/marriage, putting everything aside to get the job done and her career further. Erin Manning (Sarah Megan Clark), mom-to-be and assistant works the back end, learning the game and wanting to get ahead and have it all. Equity focuses on the truth, also the relationships whether it be between romantic, professional, friendships or personal that are damaged or strengthened while trying to get something or get a head.
Equity did a great job of covering those relationships and reflecting them in real ways of what happens/consequences. Equity is a female powered Wall Street, something we don’t see depicted often enough in movies. One thing is clear MONEY should not be a dirty word for females, stressed in the opening and ending. Much of the movie focused around real like Wall Street situations, and examples, with women helping out with details for the writers when forming this film.
A must see. Out this fall nationwide. Thank you Denise Albert and Melissa Musen Gerstein of The Moms for the screening.
