Bad Seed Cider Tap Room Review

Share

On Sunday evening I was able to attend the Grand Opening of the Tap Room for Bad Seed Cider Company, right in my town, Highland. It is the brain child of two childhood friends that banded together with a common goal, to make delicious hand crafted cider for the community and beyond.  The 6th Generation Apple Farmer from Wilklow’s Farm,  Albert Wilklow and Brewmaster Devin Britton created Bad Seed Cider in 2011. And, on October 4th they debuted their Ciderie Taproom.

The first thing Christine and I noticed when we entered was the amazing space that houses the Ciderie. Its a large building, 2 floors with the bar upstairs. Downstairs had lots of room for a pool table, buffet area or tables to host an event and of course, the taproom!

We wasted no time in heading upstairs to check out the bar area. We had a free drink voucher burning a hole in our pockets! We cozied up to the bar, and we took a peek at the menu. Before long one of the bartenders came over to take our order. She certainly knew her ciders and was able to help us make a choice that sounded best suited to our tastes!

The taproom offers Bad Seed Ciders as well as other local New York ciders. We stuck with Bad Seed while we were there! I had a few glasses of the Saison and a taste of the Blueberry cider as well! The ciders were delicious, the prices were reasonable and the atmosphere was wonderful.
During our time of snacking on a special buffet comprised of all apple based food items (apple slaw, apple butter, apple salsa) the sweet sounds of The Shoe String Band‘s Old Time Southern/Appalachian music filled the air!

The ambiance was perfect and it was someplace we all agreed we could see ourselves coming back to again (and again!). Maybe one day with our husbands. Maybe not.

In fact, Christine even decided to bring a little treat home to her husband for missing out on the fun… you can select bumper stickers, t-shirts, bottle openers and all sorts of other swag to bring home. Best of all, you can buy Bad Seed Cider to go!

I know I will be returning. Not only do I believe in supporting my local small businesses, but this is the kind of place I WANT to return to! Be sure to visit the Tap Room between October and December. Hours are Saturdays 12-8pm and Sundays 12-7pm
