Summer is fast approaching, less than 3 months left of school.  While on summer break and vacations, there are tons of fun offerings  within the Hudson Valley.  Make sure to check them out, I mean who doesn’t love books, movies and bowling?  (Some great rainy day activities too!)  Make sure to bookmark this list, we will be adding to it as we find more fun activities.

Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program–  Each year Barnes & Noble offers this great program to encourage children to read and they receive a FREE book when they turn in their list after reading 8 books.  They provide suggestions by grade level also.  My kids have loved this, reading to them counts too!

REGAL Entertainment/ Cinemas Regal Cinemas is offering $1 movies for 9 weeks of summer.  You can find the schedule here and locate a local theatre here.  We found Mohegan Lake in Westchester, Poughkeepsie in Dutchess, and Nanuet in Rockland.

Bowling- Kidsbowlfree.com  An ongoing summer program that enables kids to bowl free all summer is back.  There are tons of places in the Hudson Valley participating.  For the full list look here and sign up for the participating Bowling Alley closest to you.

Bowling- Bowl Summer Games  This is a discounted pass that gives you 3 games a DAY every day from May 18th-September 7th.  SO there is an upfront cost but then over 3 months of bowling daily is included. For families nearby CT and NJ there are many places listed also in White Plains.

Pizza Hut BOOK IT CHALLENGE  This program and details will be released on June 1st so make sure to check back.

TD BANK Reading Program– This has been going on but not officially released 2015 yet.  In past kids under 18 read 10 books over the summer and receive $10 in their new or existing TD Bank accounts.

Home Depot– Free Kid’s Workshop building program, the first Saturday of the month at your local Home Depot.  Registration is suggested/required.

Lowe’s– Free Build and Grow projects on Saturdays (1-2) times a month.  Most require registration in advance which opens up around 2 weeks before hand.

Michael’s Kids Club Drop in craft projects for $2 and the kids take it home.  On Saturdays from 10am-12pm.  Check out the schedule and sign up in advance or drop in.

Pottery Barn Kids– Check out their monthly calendar of story times, craft times and activities. Past few years they offered a summer reading club, we will update when that is confirmed again.

Target offers FREE community events.  While most are in NYC, it is summer vacation and the city is a hop, skip and a jump away.  These events are at museums- educational fun, teachers would be so proud!

Chuck E Cheese Reward Calendars  All summer there are monthly calendars for chores, reading, potty training and others, once calendar is completed it can be turned in for 10 free tokens.

National Parks  This is one of our favorite and free to cheap things to do, which can be done all over the United States.  The list for New York is long, there are 3 in the Hyde Park area of the Hudson Valley too.  We have the National Park Passport book to collect stamps from all the parks we have been too, a cheap life long keepsake for the family.

If you know of more, please email us or leave a comment to have it added to our list.  Don’t forget to share, pin, and of course do some of these ideas!
